Institutional Mandate & Devolution

Strengthening democratic integrity and citizen-led oversight across Kenya.

Civic Rise Kenya was established on the conviction that genuine democratic governance requires constant, vigilant public participation. Since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution, devolution has reshaped how power and resources flow across all 47 counties, creating both unprecedented opportunities and urgent oversight imperatives.

As an independent advocacy organization based in Nairobi, we bridge the divide between citizens and institutional duty-bearers. We translate intricate legislative bills, county fiscal strategy papers, and judicial rulings into clear, accessible policy dossiers so every community can demand institutional accountability.

Our civil society role is both constructive and unyielding: we champion evidence-based policy reform, empower grassroots coalitions with legal education, and deploy open-source monitoring frameworks that guarantee public resources serve public welfare.
